ITCS Web designers, programmers, and other staff provide design and
support for the College of ACES and ITCS websites, the main University
of Illinois
Extension website, and the Office of Research website. Consulting services
in website development and management are also available to college
departments.
ITCS also maintains Web infrastructure in support of the college and
U of I Extension faculty and staff:
- Four Web servers (two Unix and two Windows NT servers)
- A database server running Microsoft SQL Server
- Tools for Web development and support, including
- Cold Fusion
- ASP, Perl, PHP, JSP
- MySQL database support
- Secure services
- Cybercash support
- ChartFX for dynamic charts
- Real Media Server
ITCS programmers can add value to websites by making them more interactive,
either updating existing sites or as part of new site development. Examples
of interactive features include text and image rollovers, writing to and
reading from databases, and performing calculations based on user input.
The interactive applications that have been developed by ITCS programmers
include on-line systems for submitting grant proposals, calendaring systems,
registration forms, and frequently-asked-question areas.
