Statewide Network Support (SNS) provides leadership for implementing information technology in University of Illinois Extension. SNS focuses vision, maintains standards, and manages project implementation. It provides network design and server support for the Extension offices across the state. SNS delivers business functions that allow effective hardware and software ordering, processing, inventory, and management.

U of I Extension is SNS's sole client. Support, training, and installation are provided to 126 Extension unit, center, and regional offices covering 1,500 users. SNS works closely with the five regional technologists who offer front-line support to Extension field staff.

SNS does not charge for its services. Funding is provided by U of I Extension directly as well as through ITCS.

Among our services:

• Manage installation, support, and training for U of I Extension.
• Conduct regular team meetings (including regional support staff) for planning and problem solving.
• Design, manage, and monitor the growing 50-server environment of Extension's statewide network.
• Provide direct support to users and regional technologists in resolving problems on desktops and laptops and in the office computing environment.
• Research new products, services, and technology.
• Manage infrastructure arrangements for statewide connectivity.
• Maintain database functions for statewide inventory.
• Maintain records, budgets, inventory, and licensing.
• Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and account representatives.
• Collaborate with Extension's Computer and Technology Advisory Committee, contributing to the integration of Regional and Campus expectations.
• Support local Extension information technology initiatives.
